FCCenviro held the first edition of the Health & Safety Excellence Awards, created to recognise the commitment, leadership and best practices of the teams and professionals who help to strengthen the culture of prevention across all the Group’s platforms and areas of activity.

The event, held yesterday, 2nd July, at the company’s corporate headquarters in Madrid, brought together representatives from FCCenviro from various countries to highlight projects and initiatives that stand out for their contribution to people’s health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace.

The event was opened by Eva Egido, Director of Compliance, Safety and Sustainability at FCCenviro, who highlighted the vital role played by health and safety professionals and the importance of integrating health and safety into all the organisation’s processes and decisions. Iñigo Sanz, Chief Executive Officer, then took the floor and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to a goal shared by the entire organisation: to ensure that every person returns home safe and sound at the end of their working day.

The event also featured Paul Stokes, Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality at FCC Environment UK, who gave a masterclass on preventive leadership and safety culture. During his speech, he shared his experience and insights on the challenges and opportunities facing the company and the sector as they continue to move towards safer working environments, emphasising a key point: “Health and Safety should be a forethought and not an after-thought.”

During the ceremony, awards were presented in three categories: Best Preventive Practice Award, Preventive Innovation Award and Safe Behaviour Award; which recognised outstanding projects and initiatives carried out in different countries and business areas within FCCenviro.

The company also paid special tribute to Paul Stokes’s career by presenting him with the Legacy Award, an honorary award given in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the development of health and safety within the organisation, as well as his leadership and commitment throughout his professional career.

The event concluded with the screening of a tribute video and the presentation of awards to the finalists and winners of this first edition.

With this first edition of the Health & Safety Excellence Awards, FCCenviro reinforces its commitment to protecting people and fostering a robust, participatory culture of prevention geared towards continuous improvement, in which health and safety are a strategic priority for the entire organisation.
